In this guest episode of The Warrior Parent Podcast, hosts Marci Mitchell and Debbie DiManno speak with Donna Apidone, author, seasoned radio host, and ordained minister who works with people from all blocks of life, in all stages of life, to find purpose through values. Marci and Donna dig into what exactly Donna does to help both adults and teens navigate changes by finding support in others.
Donna speaks about her journey and what led her to some profound careers and paths in her life. She was in radio for over twenty years, and she is now an ordained minister and author. Her books were inspired by classes she taught, which focused on finding purpose in life and using meditation to guide people through transformations.
The groups that Donna has led helped people navigate all kinds of professional and personal transformations at different stages of life. The classes work as a group dynamic in the presence of others to build and lift one another up. They are not one size fits all, they are for anyone experiencing change and learning how to navigate through that change.
The pandemic slowed things down for everyone, and today’s school age youth experienced something that no other generation has. The thing is, their minds did not stop working, they just learned to shift in a new kind of way. Donna’s classes help all kinds of people, but young people particularly benefit from this because it helps them shift away from the isolation they went through and start finding purpose in doing something for the sake of others.
Finding purpose brings a sense of value, which helps people not feel so lost. Helping teens find that at an earlier age is really helpful with this as well. It’s not about just finding purpose in work for the sake of money, it’s for a bigger picture that has a ripple effect of positivity on others. There’s not a timeline on finding your purpose, it’s simply listening to one another and ourselves, and finding the value within.
