Show Notes

In this guest episode of The Warrior Parent Podcast, hosts Marci Mitchell and Debbie DiManno speak with Rev Dr. Raymont Anderson, or Dr. Ray, a reverend and teacher of spiritual principles that focuses on empowered living, human rights, and holistic wellness. The group digs into a conversation around trauma, growth, healing, and community starting with looking from within and helping yourself to help the next generation thrive.

Growth Through Trauma

Dr. Ray grew up in a situation where he was often surrounded by trauma driven situations, and after some navigation and self-discovery, knew that his path was to go into ministry. As a previous teacher, his motivation was to continue to help others navigate hard situations. When he was a young child, he learned sign language, and continues to be passionate about connecting with the deaf community as well.

Helping Yourself to Help Others

Kids today have a whole different level of traumas than the previous generation, and it’s up to the previous generation to help them not only help them on their journeys, but also thrive in their lives. It starts with parents figuring out their own traumas in order to help their children work through theirs. Listening means everything, it means that you’re willing to work through the hard stuff instead of just scolding, which won’t be much help.

More Community Tools

There needs to be tools within the community to help people handle different situations, which in turn will help the younger generation, making the world a little bit more prepared for the future. There are a lot of hurdles for people to jump these days and a lot of healing that needs to happen for everyone. Part of that healing needs to be blending of communities where people can learn from others unlike themselves.

Get to Know One Another

If more than half the population would come together and get to know one another, the world would be significantly different and more accepting for everyone. It takes more than just a general statement. It takes knowing exactly why you want the change you’re seeking and what tools you need to get there. Everyone deserves to know what they want in life and what happiness means to them. The weight of the world needs to be off the shoulders of those people to give them the freedom to think about it. This means we need to create a place of acceptance, understanding, and support.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode! This podcast is dedicated to supporting families through the ups and downs of parenting and mental wellness. We know how tough it can be to raise kids in today’s world, but you don’t have to do it alone. Join us and let’s lift each other up.

With love,
