Love, Connection and You: Living into Your Values

February 28, 20233 min read

Love and connection sounds pretty straight forward but we encourage you to dig in a little - explore what this really means to you and how, if Love and Connection are values for you in your life, are you living from these values?

love and connection - united in love

Values are just what they sound like - and so much more! Our true values - the ones that matter most to us - should define how we show up in the world. If we are living (showing up) outside of our values then we are going to experience some very unpleasant results. That’s just how it works.  Check out Brene Brown's Living into Our Values Worksheet for a fun but comprehensive values worksheet to help you really get granular on this!

So what does showing up in Love and Connections look like? There are many ways to do this. Your “job” (sacred purpose) is to find ways that are meaningful and truly resonate for you. Perhaps it involves you volunteering your time and energy somewhere sharing love, connection and maybe other resources as well, like food or shelter. It’s really challenging for people to show up as their best selves if they are struggling to access the basic needs for survival. Sometimes just a kind touch, listening ears or open eyes can really make a difference - to all involved.

love and connection - the heart

But there are a million smaller (and bigger) acts you can take every day: smiling when you pass someone, helping someone with their groceries, or yard, or bringing in a neighbor’s trash cans. How about a larger than normal tip to help out in the service industry, or a compliment on a task someone is working hard on. Maybe a call to check in on a friend, neighbor, relative, or an offer of a ride, meal or walk. Sometimes people just want to be heard - especially if they are lonely or isolated. It’s not too hard to listen, but it can mean so much. Think about the ways others have shown up for you that lifted your spirits and made you feel good and connected - then do that!

News flash - we are not here to be alone, or to amass great fortunes or lots of stuff (contrary to what you may see in commercials and media). You’ve probably heard that you can’t take it with you. Think of what truly meaningful things you would like to have accomplished by the time you finish out your time on earth. The money you have in the bank, or how clean your baseboards are or what level you reach on a game you love may not feel so important at that moment. How have you loved? What lives have you positively affected? Did you do your best to truly live from your values? What legacy do you leave behind? Is it one of love and connection? I hope so.

This month we are focusing on 3 tools that you will find on your February Love and Connection Page, as well as in the full membership.
